Hi all,

I am asking for advice from people who have done the same. I have been trying to get on with DODEA for about 3 years. I was offered a job stateside and not overseas like I was hoping for. I am specialized so that does help tremendously. I am thrilled to have the offer make no mistake. Should I take a stateside job give 110% and do my best to network and aim for an overseas job if it comes my way?

That has been my overall goal for some time. Does anyone know if you stay active in the system while currently working for DODEA? I'm just trying to get any and all information I can.
haha Yes, you definitely stay active in the system if you take a stateside DoDEA job. Opinions vary as to whether being with DoDEA stateside offers any significant advantage to getting into DoDEA overseas. HelpOthers Take the stateside job and show what a great asset you are. The only people who have any disadvantage from coming from within the system are those with Vet preference, because once hired, Vet preference is not taken into account when changing positions within the same organization (DoDEA).

happyteacher If you like where you currently are teaching, I'd say wait for the right job, especially if you have a specialty area. I chose to turn down interviews last year that were stateside (we had no desire to leave our area and jobs unless it was overseas, and stateside would have been a paycut because they would only accept 5 of my 16 years of experience...See More
