I've worked in a public school for 13 years. Will my years of service transfer to DODEA and would I still retire at 25 years? I have an EDS and see the pay scale is much higher but weighing the decision based on the retirement issue. Thank you for your time and guidance.
i❤️slps I think you can only get credit for 10 years with DoDEA.

haha You will get credit for 10 years (plus a step) for salary purposes but I don't believe that any of you years would carry over towards retirement unless you are a current federal employee. You would be vested in the DODEA retirement by that time but I don't know the exact details (I've only been in 5 years or so and plan on looking more closely at p...See More

HelpOthers With DDESS (DoDEA America) you would start at step 5 (0 experience starts on step 0) and with DoDDS (DoDEA Europe and Pacific) you would start at step 11 (0 experience starts on step 1). You could retire after 20 years of DoDEA service or at a certain age, can't remember the details.

HelpOthers You can increase the % you pay to TSP and you can do the catch up contributions when you are of age to do so.
