It is a total of 2 checked bags. Some airlines charge for them and others do not. With orders, the ones that do will sometimes wave the fee and other times, require you to pay the fee and you can submit the charge for reimbursement. This is in addition to your carry-on and personal bag permitted on the plane.

Definitely depends on the airline. I used to work for AA, and for active duty military it was higher, but civilian employees were still the limit of 2 (50 lbs. and under). Now, plenty of the people I worked with couldn't tell a military ID from a civilian ID, and would waive 'em, but being prior military I wouldn't (we could get in big trouble for ...See More
