Hi! Please bear with me as my situation is long. :) My family and I moved to Japan for my husband's job last November. I applied for substitute teaching back in February and went through the background check, fingerprinting, and was hired on as a sub for the local DODD school at the very end of the school year. A couple weeks after the end of the school year, I interviewed for a kindergarten position and received my tentative offer as a local hire on July 4th. Since then, I was told that I will have to do my background check all over again. It's been a month since receiving my tentative offer and have not heard anything about the next step. I have been in contact with my HR rep and she said the security office is backed up. My school finally just informed me if I don't get my firm offer before the start of the new school year, I will be hired as a long-term sub for my own classroom.

Ms. B I have a question about subbing . When you applied to be a sub did you go through USA jobs.gov or did you create a packet and turn it into the school ? Also did they allow you to longer term sub during the previous school year ?

HelpOthers You will be considered a long term sub until your official start date. You will receive the same benefits you did last year as a sub until you are officially hired.
