As for the Subaru, unless something has changed you cannot bring a car into Okinawa or Japan unless it was specifically manufactured for use in Japan.

Sounds like a resounding no. That said...what did you guys do with your cars? I don't want to sell it or bother my family with keeping in their garage....can i store it....any suggestions?

Most people seem to sell them. You can qualify for gov't storage (I don't know the exact details) but it is not apparently the kind you can take things in and out of. and most people feel it's better to get what they can out of it rather than have it sitting for years.
