Hello all.

I am unclear about the general education requirements. By the time I will apply, I'll have a WA state teaching license in elementary education. I will have met the student teaching requirement, the professional teacher education requirements and have met the criteria for elementary teaching specialization.

However, I completed my Bachelor's degree in the UK and my undergraduate credits are all in Spanish and English. I did not take classes over a variety of subjects (math, science, philosophy etc.) because in the UK you specialize in one or two areas right from the beginning of your degree. On the website, it says that 40 hours of general education hours should be distributed over multiple subjects. Does this mean that I won't be able to apply? How do they evaluate the general education coursework?

Thank you for any input you have.

Febe Thank you for your response. I needed that clarification. I will look into what more I have to do.

California Sun You will probably be able to add English and Spanish to your certifications. And i believe if you are state certified the amount of credits are not as substantive. I would call and ask the Dept that reads transcripts for a better understanding.

Hopeful California Sun- Not sure if you'll see this, but... I believe that you said in another thread that you are a new ISS hire. Would you be willing to "talk" via email with me about this?
