Hello all! I am a teacher living in NYC and was offered a position in Georgia in July. I turned it down due to my mother being ill, though I am all in for this coming year. A few questions please.

1. If I get an oversees offer, and do my two years (or 1 depending on the assignment) is it a problem being considered for state side positions? Meaning to say, is it, once you're abroad you stay abroad?

2. Does working in the system open you up to positions that newbies don't normally get? I seem to have only been interviewed by Japan and Korea, though I see many working in the UK and I hear of those working in Iceland and Italy.

3. Is it possible to take additional coursework in, for example, School Leadership once teaching with the DOD? I have my MSed plus 15, though I'd like additional courses for enrichment and salary bumps. Is there a discounted rate for DOD employees for college courses? And, what online schools does the DOD work with (if any)?

haha Most people seem to have everything shipped. They see it not as having to ship everything but taking advantage of the benefit of taking most/all of their possessions with them. Also, many/most do not plan on going overseas for only a year or two.

You generally do have the option of putting belongings into storage rather than ship them at g...See More
