In March, you should receive an email stating that you need to update your application for the upcoming school year. At that time, you will change the year to 2018-2019. I would agree that you may as well wait at this point. The renewal email came out in February last year.

Are you talking about the EAs system? I am new to this, but I just filled mine out for 2018-19. The only other option was 2019-20.

Yes. Generally they send out an email in February/March telling you to renew your EAS application (e.g. recheck/update your information, reupload your documents, attachments, etc. and resubmit).
