Hi Folks,

I'm wondering if anyone knows if there is a way around taking "methods in teaching" courses in several subjects to be a qualified candidate? I'm also curious, if you've been marked as "unqualified" do they give you ALL of the reasons? I was marked as "unqualified" because of not having the above mentioned courses and I'm wondering if it is worth the stress and $ to get in those courses by the end of the summer in order to qualify for a job... Thoughts and/or advice is very welcome!

Thanks,

Leah
Leo I don't know how to get around it, but for elementary the methods courses are often combo classes - LA/SS and MathScience, so you may not need to take as many as you think. There was an Elementary Methods class on the UCLA extension website that covered all subjects except Reading.

Leo In the meantime, you might try seeing if you qualify in MS or High School social studies ( or anything else) based on your undergraduate units. It doesn't look like you need a methods course ...
