I am a military spouse hoping to become a local hire on base at my husband's current duty station. I have an in-person interview scheduled with a principal. What should I plan to bring to the interview? I know for a while "teaching portfolios" were popular. Is that recommended? Letters of recommendation? Resume? Pamphlet? I would LOVE to get into the system so I'm trying to make the best impression I can. Thanks!

vickyo T.Rob- I am qualified to teach 1-6. I am currently a 1st grade teacher and have 13 years of experience. I was told by the dodea that there is no military spouse preference for dod oconus.

vickyo Mrs.C - Thank you for sharing all the information that you have gathered. It has been so difficult to find anything about local hires. I appreciate you sharing your tips and hope you find a position at the school where y'all are stationed.

haha Good information here. Definitely reach out to the principals and let them know you are in the local area. Your name will still have to show up on any list that they pull for a position, but if your name is not showing up then at least you can follow and try and remedy the situation.
