Any idea how often HS Social Studies openings occur overseas? I have an MS+12 with 13 years of experience and some AP certs. I was excited to get qualified but nothing so far and now worry I'm hoping for a unicorn.

Thoughts?

haha Just heard about 1 definite (and at possibly 1 tentative) position that will be opening up in Japan East District schools for a .5 SS/.5 AVID position.

Considering that AVID certification only takes an approved 2-3 workshop/1 credit hour, it might be worth S teachers trying to add it if they haven't already (if not for these positions then...See More

Winston My masters is cross cat SPED with emphasis in emotional disturbance. I really want to continue teaching history, but would be willing to take some portion of a contract in SPED (haven't done it in 6 years). Is that something I can indicate on the application? If so, where?

haha I'm not sure you can be that specific about your target job on the EAS. I would put down SPED categories along with the SS. SS/SPED combos are fairly rare but not unheard of. I would also try and add the AVID if you can, just to have one more area that is fairly easy to add to the SS.

HelpOthers In EAS, you can list the positions you believe you are qualified to teach and can include the special education positions there. Also, there is a narrative box on the page with all the questions about experience. You could type what you want in the narrative box.
