I'm sure the chances are slim to none, but is it completely unheard of to land a job as a recent grad? I'm also an active duty military spouse and applied as a local hire stateside. My application has been qualified in SPED mild/mod. I probably shouldn't get my hopes up as I've read some of you have waited years for an interview/position, right? *sigh*
haha It is fairly rare but not unheard of. You might have better chances since you are going for a stateside hire (and SPED is a good area to have). If you can, see how many classes you would need to add Mod/Severe to you certifications as that would certainly help your chances both stateside and overseas.

I did h...See More

SpedTeacher74 Difficult but not unheard of. My daughter's Sure Start teacher (pre-k) was a recent graduate. Her first job was with DoDEA schools in Bad Kissingen Germany. This was in 2000-2001, so things may have changed, but I remember her well because she was brand new. Good luck!
