I was just offered to interview for a position in Atsugi, Japan. I had previously only considered Europe since I grew up in DoDD's Europe as a child, but wrote that I would like to interview for the position since I really would like to teach for DoDEA.

I suppose I have a few questions since I am not familiar with DoDEA in the Pacific region.

1. If I were offered the position would they also allow my fiancee to come over with me(if we tied the knot earlier than was planned, and he was then my Husband)?

2. Would this be included in our housing?

3. How have other teachers liked the Atsugi Naval base?

4.What is the teaching climate there?

5. Does anyone help you find your off base living quarters? [[[In Europe that was not a big deal for me because I speak multiple other languages (of European decent but no Japanese).]]]

haha Welcome aboard! Japan is amazing and I hope that you will love it as much as we have.

I would not worry about housing until you get here. Take your time to talk to other teachers about the pro's and con's of different areas, get a car, check out areas and neighborhoods and see what you are willing to trade off between getting the perfect h...See More

HelpOthers I agree again with haha. Don't worry about the housing until you are there. Get to know the area, your school (in case that changes too), and determine what activities and clubs and possibly husband's potential employment before choosing a place to live.
