One of my colleagues just told me that a friend of hers that is not a DoDDS teacher, was interviewed and hired for an elementary position in Okinawa. I found this very frustrating due to the fact that I had the same qualifications, I'm an internal applicant, and Okinawa is on my list of target locations. There goes the theory that internal applicant have a leg up. Just venting.

haha Yes, those situations do make you go, hmmmm. Supposedly the whole referral list process is supposed to make things more transparent and less prone to nepotism, cronyism, etc.but things do still happen.

LolaTeach Neither a vet, not local hire. She is a conus hire, with no ties to the military. I've heard that Vet preference comes into play if you ah e two similarly qualified applicants, after the interview process.

LolaTeach I apologize for the typos. Autocorrect isn't always helpful ;-)

HelpOthers It seems all the vets get on the referral list first. Also, people with the most certifications, even if not related to the position, make it on the list next.
