Taxes... Until a change is made, current new hires going directly overseas are expected to pay taxes on the moving expenses. However, if you are transferring from one position to another within the federal government, you can at least receive those taxes back through a tax allowance. (WTA/RITA).

HelpOthers No. The payscale is different and already includes cost of living, etc.. They only credit up to 5 years of non-DoDEA teaching experience (starting at step 5 max).

You pay for your own relocation, but packing and driving a u-haul across country or a few states over is much less expensive than your taxes could be on a move overseas.

haha For some reason, I recall that they do pay for relocation to PR (but wouldn't swear to it).

HelpOthers A document I am reading says if you are on a transportation agreement and complete your tour, you are eligible for RAT and for transportation of household goods and to and from PR (as long as PR is not your home of residence) and that you and your dependents are then eligible to shop at the exchange and attend DoDEA schools.
