Hi again! This board is super helpful, and I'm hoping to get advice on a degree. I currently have my bachelors in early childhood education with an emphasis on early literacy (it was a pre-k - 2nd grade emphasis program from UGA), a math endorsement for elementary from UGA, and a gifted endorsement from the state (I don't think DOD will count that). I have been teaching 7 years and have taught homeroom kindergarten, 2nd, and 5th along with a k-5 STEM special. I'm starting a Masters program at WGU and want to accelerate the process to a year or so. My question is.... what would be the most helpful degree for DOD? A masters in k-6 math would be easiest, but would it be redundant? I could do 5-9 math but don't really want to pursue middle grades. ELL, middle grades science, etc. are all options. What do you think? I was also a technology coach and could get a masters in instructional technology. Thank you so much!!!

It was a Pre-K - 2nd grade emphasis so there were a lot of extra literacy courses. The math courses were not targeted for just lower elementary. I'm certified in my s...See More

southernteach Mariab Have you looked at the DODEA teacher categories requirements page? Have you submitted your EAS application with transcripts yet? If not you submit them and a licensure analyst will evaluate by looking at your transcripts to determine if you are qualified. So when you are putting down jobs/positions of interest you select the areas you think ...See More

mariab I looked over the requirements and think I should be fine. I selected everything that I even think I'm qualified for and submitted everything in EAS. I guess my worry is that I'm selecting a program for my masters and want it to be the most beneficial for DOD. If I'm not qualified in something for elementary gen ed, I want to be sure I cover that f...See More
