Any advice about banking? I'm thinking about opening up a Navy Federal account so that I have access to a branch.
HelpOthers You may not always have access to a specific credit union, but that would be a good one if you qualify for it. I belong to USAA and appreciate how easy it is to do business even when there is not a local branch nearby.

haha Depends where you're headed. Navy Federal seems to be a good one for Japan (along with Community Bank). In Germany, Service Credit Union was very good for us.

LolaTeach Also, NFCU has an excellent mobile banking app, which allows you to deposit checks and complete several other transactions. Their credit card doesn't have foreign exchange fees. I used it when I lived overseas and not having a branch nearby was never an issue.

WA_Counselor I'm headed to Korea if I get that firm offer, and I'm currently a DoD employee, so I qualify for many of the credit unions open to military personnel. I would like to eventually end up in Italy, so I'd love to figure out if there's a credit union that would work for both continents.
