Hi everyone! Complete noob here! Just completed my application this week and it's still pending. I wasn't able to apply for this current school year which I assume has me out of the running, BUT.. I have a Bachelors in English, education minor (plus some extra stuff to get certified), 8 years of high school experience (5 of which have also included work at a virtual academy), I am AP Lit certified (and experienced) and have taught 9-12, SpEd, CP, honors, Pre-AP, and AP levels, plus a semester of Theater Arts. I have no idea how my experience/resume stacks up. I got a job at the first school I applied for and have never left so all of this is new territory. Anyone going through the process or who has been through it.. I'd be very appreciative for feedback on my qualifications and opinions on my hireability for next year (or the chances of a Hail Mary for this year). I am available for all overseas locations. haha Hi. The biggest factor for marketability with DoDEA seems to be areas of certification. The more and the hardest to fill areas being the better in most cases. Your experience and education is just fine for consideration in my experience (current DoDEA teacher and former long time applicant and DoDEA wannabe/stalker).

DoDeaNewbie Most of the high schools are middle / High combined school buildings so make sure you put ms/hs ela. You should automatically qualify for humanities as well so add that. All of our English teachers also teach something else like middle and high school ela, social studies, drama, humanities, reading, sped, speech, yearbook, etc. English only teacher...See More
