So, I submitted my application a few weeks ago & had been waiting for my qualification summary. I chose PreK-6 for my job interest because my licensure/degree is for PreK-6. I qualified for grades 1-6 but not for PreK/K, which I was a bit confused because I teach Kindergarten now and have been for the past few years. The additional info section on the qualification summary said "a minimum of 12 semester hours directly related to early childhood, kindergarten, or PreK education required." I want to resubmit for a re-evaluation but not sure what their looking for. My degree is a Masters of Arts in Teaching (Elementary Education); Any thoughts on what I need to include to qualify for prek/k?
Ida DoDEA is concerned with specific college credits. Pre K is separate certification and therefore needs its own credits. So in your degree, if you have 12 hours specifically for early childhood classes you can highlight those when you resubmit. There is a chance that depending on your program, you might not have the required early childhood classes.

haha In thinking about it, either you already have 12 hours of EC credits or they used your Pre-K-6 state cert to justify only requiring half of the normally required credits (12 vs. 24). You might also want to make sure whether or not they credited you with 3 hours of EC for teaching PreK/K for at least 2 years.

Icanread I had the same problem. I was certified to teach K in Arizona, and I had an ECE endorsement. I was still required to take classes to get my ECE certification for DoDEA. Because I had state certification in ECE, I only needed 12 hours (though my years teaching K worked for 3 of those credits).

This info is from the DoDEA certs page: A major...See More
