Is it possible to be overqualified for a DODEA teaching position?

My goal is to apply for an overseas post in three years time. At that point in time I will fit into the pay scale category of 6 years of middle school teaching (Gifted & Pre-AP in Geometry and Algebra) with a Masters and 30 plus credits (MBA and MS in Mathematics Teaching).

Are the payroll costs (e.g. higher starting salary) a consideration in the hiring process? Are individual schools impacted by these costs or is it a centralized administrative line item?

mathisfun @ Haleigh - Did they start you at Step 7? Trying to gauge the net benefit/cost of present position in TX including spouse's income vs the Big Leap (DODD) with one income.

mathisfun @Haleigh - Just realized that my question was too personal. Sorry about that. Perhaps someone can comment on how Steps are determined. Thank you.

haha They credit you for up to 10 years of experience and everyone starts at Step 1, so your years of qualifying experience +1, essentially, determines your starting salary step (with level of education + numbers of additional credit hours determining your lane).

mathisfun @haha. Noted, years of teaching experience +1 added to my analysis. Starting a new post Benefits - DODEA vs. Teaching in TX. Thank you haha and everyone who posted here to help a fellow teacher with wanderlust.

HelpOthers @mathisfun, keep in mind if you accept a DoDEA position within the USA or Puerto Rico or Guam (?) your pay is on a different payscale and that pay scales starts with step 0 and allows up to 5 years of non-DoDEA teaching experience, so starting step would be step 5 if you have 5 or more years of experience.
