I am creating a spreadsheet to compare the benefits of working for DODEA vs those of my present teaching job in TX. (Spouse's pay now vs. no job = no pay scenario on move is factored in). Pay with DODEA is $7510 more than what I currently make. Can someone help me build out my model?

1. Is there a free medical and/or dental plan?

2. LQA - Is it a set amount, allowing for saving money to pay for other expenses? E.g. Benefit of $3500 per month and rental costs $3000, therefore saving $500 per month.

3. COLA - Is it 2.8% of gross pay in 2019?

4. CSRS - ? Not sure if this option is available, and if choosing this option prevents FERS enrollment.

5. FERS- Basic (1% per service year, tec.), Social Security, TSP (up to 14%, govt match up to 5%)

6. I imagine Federal Tax rate is unchanged regardless of where I reside.

Have I missed anything?

Thanking you in advance.

I'm in Okinawa.

HelpOthers I agree with all the overseas information. Just expect that you don't need to pay rent and utilities, only your internet and phones. Your car insurance at least in Japan will be much lower too. We pay $25 per year with USAA to have car rental insurance when we visit the USA. We pay about $200-400 depending on car size for car insurance in Japan wit...See More
