I heard from more than one person that veterans are only on a 1 year probationary period instead of the 2 year. I tired to look that up, but can't find anything to support this. Is this just an urban legend or maybe a outdated policy?

There is an admin that I know that believes there is no such thing as a 1 year vet probationary period and all new years are on 2 full school year probationary period. Icanread I've actually been quite shocked at the level of mis-information admin has! Is it because there is no standard operating procedures? Or because they change policies so often?

haha I think in general, admin types can be poor when it comes to the HR related parts of their jobs. I don't know if they don't get good training or are not told where to find the information they need or what it is. RJ In your case, it would be called Family Member Preference, I'm not sure where you would add it to the application, however it may help your chances of being hired.
