I am teaching at an American international school overseas with my application in with DODEA...My question is about them considering me, do I have to be in the US, or list a US phone number for them to consider me? My parents still live in the US and I can list their phone number, but I still wont be able to receive the call. Can I list my overseas number? I've heard that this can be an issue, is it true? Has anyone else had similar circumstances? Thank you!

Joe Wachs I just went through this over the past year so I think I can shed some light on this. You will have to fill out a document stating where you have lived for the past several years. The important fact is where you reside at the time you are given your informal offer. If you do not reside within the US at that time you are considered a "local hire". T...See More

haha Thanks for the first hand/recent account. It sounds like they are tightening up, which is not good news for people who want to teaching internationally while keeping their EAS active. It will be interesting to see how consistent they are with applying it.

Glad it worked out for you.

The Spectre I am an IB Physics teacher in Dubai and have a DoDEA interview coming up. Not getting LQA would be a dealbreaker for me. Should I be the anointed one and receive an offer (BIG IF), receiving LQA would be my first question. Will HR be able to answer that question? Joe Wachs comment above makes me think this might be a pointless exercise.

haha HR should be able to answer the question for you. It costs you nothing to go forward/ through and see what happens. Better to know now when going through the actual process rather than just getting a hypothetical answer from HR which can be unreliable.
