Hello,
I have finalized my application and submitted two years in a row. I have a social studies 7-12 renewed license and I am living in Japan. I have been considering taking the appropriate tests to add a SPED qualification this year. It is two specific tests that will take a bit of time to study for. Because I have a Masters in Education, I am able to add different qualifications to my license.
Do you think this is worth it, and might it make a difference in me being selected?

Thankfully age is not taken into consideration at all. We have many teachers who have been hired well into their 40s or even 50s. I was 42 when I was hired. In fact in my experience, DoDEA seems to hire experienced teachers who have 10+ years teaching. Agree that age is one thing that is NOT holding you back. If anything you're on the younger side for DoDEA. :D

In general, the more regions you put down for target jobs, the better your chances. The exception would be if you put yourself down as a local for the Tokyo(?) area.
