I am interested in pursuing an ED.S. with a concentration in International Teaching. I was told that doctorates are helpful when applying with DODEA. Would an Ed.S. increase my chances of getting hired? How beneficial would it be in the hiring process? I'm hoping it would also be helpful in landing a job with an international school since DODEA is my backup plan.
haha It certainly couldn't hurt your chances but it's hard to judge exactly how much it might help them with DoDEA. Ed.S. are relatively rare among teachers so it would help you stand out from the pack. It should also help in the competency ratings with DoDEA, although that whole process is a bit murky.

haha As I said, the nut and bolts of the rating process are pretty murky from the outside looking in. No principals have posted on the specifics of the rating scales. Maybe someone will (please!).
