I suppose contacting the interviewing Principal is pointless? She told me they intended to make a decision early in the week (June 3 or 4).

The principal makes a decision and sends the name to HR. HR reviews your file and makes sure all paperwork is in and you are qualified. If you are missing something they will email you and ask you for it. This is what happened to me. You can try but generally you either won't get a response or the response you get won't be very helpful. They generally make their selection then are hands off until HR makes a tentative offer.

Make sure you are also checking your junk folder. That is where I found my offer letter.
