I just interviewed for a school nurse position in Japan! The principal was great and the interview seemed to go excellent. I just found out that he immediately sent out for my references. I'm hoping this is a good sign....I'm really excited!!!

Any thoughts??? Good sign or is this just protocol but also a good sign?

Is it possible to actually get orders cut and get out there for school's start (less than a 2 month turn around)?

Thanks in advance for any responses. I'm new to the DODEA system.

haha It's definitely possible but would require HR to be on the ball for you and for there not to be any significant delays/mistakes along the way. Hang in there!

HelpOthers To be honest, I am surprised it went CONUS, I thought there were local hires in all the locations that were going to have school nurse vacancies. Many belong to NASN and OSHNA. If you are hired, you will have a great group of nurses who will help you adjust and an ISS who tries her best to support the nurses. ;)

I figured it was a good sign that after the interview he emailed me and doubled checked that I knew about Japan's pet policy and also sent for my references. Fingers crossed. I think it would be an amazing group and wonderful experience. What is an ISS?

An ISS is an Instructional Systems Specialist at the district-level (sometimes regional). The one over nursing is also over school psychology, 504, crisis and student support teams and is not a nurse. However, there is a lead...See More

Cmc Mary, what is the typical time frame from EAS referral list notification to scheduling an interview, if the principal wishes to interview an applicant? I'm a local applicant and received an EAS referral notification June 13th and nothing more. Do hiring preferences such as Verteran's, MSP etc. come into play with determining who is interviewed or d...See More
