Hey there. Just throwing this out there into the universe to see if it resonates with anyone else and to sort of make sure I am making the right decision.

So I accepted a tentative offer and I'm excited of course. But there's also this anxiety of "did I make the right decision?" Anyone else ever feel that way?

To give some background, I actually really like my current school and principal. I feel a part of the school community and love my position. I have developed some good friendships in my neighborhood as well. On the one hand I know my life is not perfect and that financially and cost of living wise it makes a lot of sense to go DoD route. I also relish the chance for a new adventure. But on the other their is this anxiety like "what if your current situation never quite matches up to DoD? What if you don't fit into the new community or school? What if I go into this and can't ever feel comfortable/satisfied like I am now again?"

haha As for the financial aspects, it's a significant to very significant improvement for most teachers. The outlays and any setbacks are generally very short term and very manageable in most cases (as outlined in previous posts).

HelpOthers It is understandable. Leave without burning any bridges, stay in contact with your principal or other hiring authority where you are now and if you don't like the new situation, after your contract ends (1 school-year stateside, 2-3 overseas), you could ask to go back. educatormama Congratulations! It's totally natural to feel anxious as you are going through a huge life change. Even if DODEA is not all you expected at least you gave it a try and will get to have an AMAZING life experience!

Teach I left a school (in DDESS) that I loved (but we didn't love the area) to go to Japan. I only spent two years overseas before my husband and I decided that it wasn't for us. Good jobs for him were scarce and we missed home after being away for his 24 years in the military. Even though I decided to leave DODEA, I don't regret my decision to go overse...See More
