Teaching Jobs on Teachers.Net

After four months of checking my application status that was (pending the whole time) I just received my first referral (middle school science). I am excited but the country is not going to work for me (I am only looking at working in Japan). I realize that sounds picky, but for personal and family reasons the only way I would leave the job I enjoy here in California would be to move to Japan.

My question is, if I do end up getting an interview, what is the proper way to decline? I understand that declining after the interview and after being offered a position is not good and removes you from consideration for other jobs that year or longer. Do you just reply to the interview request email with an apology email or is there another way that is better? Thank you in advance if you have advice on this.

haha You have great taste, Japan is amazing. Yes, basically you reply to any email or phone call and apologetically decline the interview.

HelpOthers Agreed. Just decline the interview, "Thank you for your interest in me, but I need to decline at this time."
