So here's the situation in a nutshell: I have a car which I have 2 more years to make payments on (5,500 left). I could sell it to my stepfather who is only willing to payoff the car and not actually give it's value BUT would allow me to drive it when back in the States. Alternatively, I could sell it at value (which may only be an extra 1,000 to 2,000 max) to another agency but not have that same option and maybe slightly more headache as not having transport perhaps the remaining days in the States.

Alternatively I could ship it to Korea and have a vehicle though I have heard there are used vehicles there at pretty decent prices and there is the issue of cost in shipping.

Anyone have advice on this issue?

educatormama I'm in the same situation trying to figure out whether or not to ship my car to Korea. Mine is fully paid off though. I know I'll need a car as soon possible as I'll have my 2 young daughters with me. So I don't want the cost of paying for a rental while waiting for my car to arrive and I'm also seriously nervous about paying taxes on the shipment ...See More
