I am looking at applying for a position with DODEA starting next school year (2020-21.) At this point I am on an initial educator license in WI, but I will be able to apply for my lifetime license in January. DPI processing times on this range from 1 - 2 months usually. I was considering holding off on submitting my application for DODEA until I could submit my lifetime license (instead of initial educator license.) How long does it normally take for DODEA to review your application and determine your eligibility for positions? I would hate to miss out on potential job opportunities if I wait for my lifetime license (and all the processing time that goes along with it.) What would be better in my scenario - submit my application earlier (as early as November) with my initial educator license, or wait to apply (as late as March) so I can use my lifetime license? Thank you!
haha It can vary wildly, from days to many months. When in doubt, I would say submit and see what they come back with. You could be in the running for positions with what you have and then add/update when you get the lifetime cert.

witeacher Thank you haha! So even after I submit my application to be in the running for positions, you're saying I could go back later and simply update to add/change my license pdfs when I receive my lifetime license?

haha Yes, you can generally go back and ask for re-evaluation, add certs, new transcripts, etc. as your situation changes.

SanDiegoTeacher I applied over 4 months ago and my qualifications are still pending and they have not been verified. I would not wait. When I call HR they said they are short staffed, so I would apply and then update when you get the new license. One person on this site said 4 to 5 months to wait for evaluation is the norn. It seems to be in my case so far.
