I previously posted a question pondering multiple pathways towards interviews and (ultimately hires). One thing I've looked into this week was adding certification in SPED K-12 mild to moderate. I'm curious what the caseloads are like? As I stated before I'm leery of bigger kids because of the violence I've observed in the public schools so I stay with the little ones. I have tutored older children with IEPs and helped with some program aspects in the past so not completely inexperienced with older children.
haha It varies quite a bit by school, location and even year to year. In Europe there were two us spitting 24 MS-HS students. In Japan my HS caseload has ranged from 29 to 10, depending on the year, if I had another teacher sharing the load, etc.

RJ Generally, case loads are small due to legal restrictions and EFMP preventing severe cases, for the most part. In DDESS however, you will find extreme behaviors and issues with little to no support. One school I worked at, the ISS for bah i or came down once a quarter and that ticked the support box.
