Hello all,

I am now working through all the paperwork. I remember in the past seeing people talk about having to get fingerprints done. Where is this in the process? Is there any possibility that I am exempt from that because I have military affiliation. I have an active dependents card and was curious because I received an email that says I qualify for PCS orders.

That email also said that I need to submit a terrorist training cert and my daughters' birth certs. She also asked that I provide a date for my kids to come separately if I am choosing that. I am actually interested in this so that I can buy a car, find housing, and get my shipment in before they come out. There wasn't a date on anything that I saw though so I don't know how to answer that question.

This seems to be moving faster than I anticipated for some reason. I have the passport apps but it says I need an offer letter or orders to submit that. I completed sooooo much paperwork today though t...See More
haha As I recall (personally and from reading) they have to send you the fingerprint cards that you need to take somewhere to be completed (varies by state). Lindsey I don't think that I have made it to the equip phase yet. I just filled out the background forms on the entrance on duty system. Thank you @haha I emailed the HR rep who has been communicating with me to get an estimated time frame so I can adequately make a decision on my daughters' leave date. I think the passport app asks for the date the passpo...See More

HelpOthers The official passports are applied for after you have the orders (I think). The fingerprints are taken at the time of the eQIP application. Some states allow e-prints and others require the card. Some require you to sign a permission form too. Just stay in contact with the person assisting you. I would suggest just having your kids go with you. If ...See More

haha In the past, the official passports were one of the first things you applied for. We applied for ours at the US Consulate at our overseas in't school location right after we accepted the tentative offer (before we came back to the US for the summer). They don't send them/release them until you have your orders/final offer (as I understand/remember ...See More

Lindsey Thank you @haha and @mary I have the passport application and all the forms ready for processing. In her email it says that I have to have an offer letter or orders but it doesn't have a place to put that info anywhere so I might go ahead and make an appointment on base within the next couple weeks to have the applications executed and sent to her....See More
