I am applying with the DODEA for the first time this year! I am super excited about the opportunity and am really passionate about living abroad. I just recently graduated with a masters degree (December) and received my teaching licensure in 7-12 ELA. I am substitute teaching this semester, but besides my student teaching, that's really my only experience. I know the overseas postitions are super competitive, so I guess I'm wondering what my chances are and if there is anything I can do to make myself a better/more competitive applicant? Thanks in advance!
haha Congrats on finishing the Masters! Yes, with no actual classroom experience (as the official full time teacher) you will be at a disadvantage. It's impossible to say what anyone's chances are in a given year. Brand new teachers do get hired, but it is fairly uncommon unless it is a very unusual combination of requirements, like they did their stude...See More

haha PDI is very convenient but they are light on SS related courses. U. of San Diego has some that might work:
