I am currently a substitute teacher with DODEA working at an OCONUS school. I have a BA but not in education. I am considering an alternative certification program to get certified to teach. Does anyone know if DODEA accepts alternative teaching certificates? Or what how they are viewed when it comes to hiring?

The alternative certification program is clearly the quickest way to get certified but I'm not sure if it's looked down upon.

I have also looked into a Masters of Education program, but since I do not have an education degree, I would have to take several courses (literature, government..) just to be eligible to start the Masters program.

Any info would be helpful.

Thank you!
