Greetings! On my qualifications summary the only job categories I selected were 0090(Prekindergarten), 0095(Kindergarten), and 0429(Disabled Preschool). Although on the two teaching certificates I submitted I am certified to teach higher grades (FL certified ages 3-grade 3) and (GA certified pre-k-grade 5). Now my question is, If I am hired by DODEA will they ONLY place me in the three job categories I selected(this is my hope)? I didn't select grades 1-5 on the job categories section, because I have no desire to teach those grades. One last question, do you think this drastically reduces my chances of getting hired because I only chose three job categories? This is my second year applying. I had 50 referrals last year, but only 1 interview. TIA for the responses.

Pre-K_SPED @haha Thanks for your response. I was hoping you would be one of my responses. Can you point me in the direction of the list of certification areas for DODEA? I would like to view them. Also, does every DODEA school have a Preschool Disabled teacher?

Icanread Yes, we have PSCD - Preschool Services for Children with Disabilities. Only a few schools here in Okinawa have the program, to my knowledge. But I think it's a really good cert to have!

Here is the certs page: https://www.dodea.edu/Offices/HR/employment/categories/Elementary-Positions.cfm

haha The certification areas list in the requirements sections should cover most/all of the the certification areas:

I don't have a definitive answer, but I believe that most locations have at least one PSCD program (i.e. there may not be one in every school at that location but t...See More

GingerZin Perhaps I'm reading your question wrong, but it seems like you are asking if the DODEA schools will consider your extra state certifications that you are not asking the DODEA analysts to qualify? I don't know the answer to this... but I would guess moving to DODEA would be similar to switching states in many ways... you have to be certified in that...See More

HelpOthers There is no guarantee. Once you are working for DoDEA, your qualifications be be increased or decreased based on qualification requirements at the time. If your school needs someone in a certain area, they may review what current teachers are able to teach, then ask HR to update your qualifications whether you want it or not. This is unlikely, but ...See More
