SOS: I'm still waiting for my qualifications to be reviewed. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, a Graduate Degree in Education and Human Development (major in Special Education), and am certified to teach elementary education K-6 and Special Education. However, when I looked at the requirements to teach elementary education, I noticed that I don't have a methods course in art, music, or PE. Do you think this will hold me back? I'm considering taking a class from University of Phoenix. Do continuing education classes count (worth 3 credits)???
haha They can be sticklers for the methods classes for ES. Continuing education classes are fine as long as they are from an accredited college/university and are on an official transcript. Make sure that methods of teaching ...is in the title of the class (or less ideally, the course description).

Missamy @haha, Ughhh!! I was worried this would be the case! The University of Phoenix has 4-5 week classes that start the end of this month. I think I'm just going to enroll and sign up...that way if they say I need that class, I've already started!

I did have a question for you. For my SPED qualifications, they only qualified me to teach EBD and mild learning impairment (ES, MS, and HS) even thou...See More

haha Well, that's good news (one less thing to worry about). No telling why they didn't want it.

As for SPED, yes, most degrees seem to offer the "mild to moderate" classes and DoDEA wants Moderate to Severe class content. was going to have the same issue so I chose a class about Methods of Teaching Moderate/Severe students as my elective for m...See More
