It helps with your pay if you already have 10+ years of experience. The DoDEA experience is added to that, but if you continue in your non-DoDEA schools, those years will max out at 5 for DoDEA (US and Territories) and 10 for DoDEA (foreign countries).
It may help to have experience with the DoDEA jargon, culture, programs used, etc.
