Former DoDDS school psych here. Had a great experience while with the organization for six years. Returned home to the USA fourteen years ago, so it has been awhile. Since back, have gained various credentials and extensive training in some unique counseling modalities - art, play, somatic, and sandtray therapies. Became a certified trauma specialist and licensed clinical mental health counselor. Also, have national board certifications as a school psych and clinical counselor. My DoDDS application is in, and my fingers are crossed. I am wondering about openings in my field. What are administrators looking for in a school psych? About how many school psych positions are filled during the summer and throughout the year due to retirement, etc?

Yes, often leading 504 teams, crisis teams, student support teams (RTI/MTSS) and provide counsel...See More

BlueSky Thank you all for the information and your perspectives. It is good to know there are openings. Since leaving, I've been following the significant reduction in footprint, and am guessing this week's announcement of Germany's force reduction will impact hiring. Dynamic times. Will check in with HR.

I am familiar with the 2005 DoDEA manual,...See More

haha Hard to say what the impact on schools will/would be regarding reducing troops in Germany. It could end up ranging from zero to significant, depending how/if it's implemented (e.g. when, where, which troops, etc.).

At the moment, it's a non-factor. Maybe someone in Germany will keep us posted on rumors, facts, timelines (if any, should the...See More
