Help me get noticed

Hello all, I recently was referred for a PE job at Naples MS. I have interviewed 1 time for ISS PE Coordinator and did not hear back for some time that I did not get the position. I have applied for numerous Assistant Principal jobs but I have never had an interview.

I do have a PE k-12 license and a Principal license. I have been on about every team possible in my district and I was just given the AD position at my middle school. I have been a district Curriculum Coordinator, given district and school PD, and I new teacher Mentor. I have been in education for 19 years now. Yes, I have put all this on my resume.

My question is, what can I do to stand out more? The job in Naples was my first that came from the EAS site. Any advice would greatly be appreciated. I mean anything that could help me out. Thank you!

Icanread It seems most (but not all) principals and assistant principals are hired from within, though being internal doesn't guarantee you a position either, as there are a lot of Dodea teachers looking to get into admin. I would recommend taking any position within Dodea to get your foot in the door.

haha I would agree that having the credits to be considered qualified in both PE AND Health would be the bare minimum necessary to be have a decent chance to land interviews/an offer with DoDEA.

Shawna11 I'm in an instructional coaching position for my content area, with my my admin license, and I've received two AP referrals so far from USA Jobs, plus an ISS job referral. However, I've not received an interview yet. I really prefer to teach since I'm going to be new to the system. JMO

ecd5 I'd agree that overseas PE is often filled internally. I'd suggest getting more teaching certificates and possibly going stateside DoDEA (DDESS) to get overseas.

apollo Have you tried to contact the principal at the school that you have been pulled from? Seems like Fort Campbell is looking for PE teachers... Good luck.
