I'm sharing this experience to maybe give some of you a chuckle or two and to help you feel better about your own experiences.

While attending a dinner party at a friend's house, I received a message asking if I'd be willing to interview for a position in about 10 minutes. I rushed to the basement in search of a quiet corner to gather my thoughts and hold the interview. In my haste I dropped my phone down their cement stairs, shattering it into a million pieces.

While I'm trying to piece my phone back together, the phone call for the interview comes in. I answer but they can't hear, and I can hardly hear them. After several failed attempts to connect I end up turning on speaker mode and screaming into the phone so they can hear me. Their own voices are so garbled I have to ask them to repeat each question several times.

But then I read HelpOthers, and I'm not smiling. I have a new and different interpretation of what took place.

It was wrong of Admin to offer the opportunity to interview in ten minutes. By doing so Admin violated all the procedures and guidance put in place by HR.

TGIF IsItFriday and Cookie are very likely correct. The hiring practices management are required to follow include interviewing a specific number of applicants prior to submitting their final hiring decision to HR. HelpOthers I do not believe a certain number must be interviewed, only that those receiving an offer must be interviewed. However, those interview results might be reflected in the HR scores mentioned previously, so I would encourage contacting the school and requesting a correction.

TGIF @kilroy077, the administrative manual may be of help to you. It is accessible online for the public, however it is quite dated. It is recommended that principals interview a minimum of 3 candidates.
