My dilemma is my report date is coming up and I don't have a pickup date for my HHG, which I need before I can book my flight (according to the documents received from HR). The base is also telling me that the earliest pickup date won't be until the first week of October (over 2 weeks AFTER the report date on my orders).
I emailed my HR specialist on Thursday, but with it being a holiday weekend I don't expect to hear anything back until at least Tuesday and I need peace of mind before then. Do I HAVE to appoint someone to be here for my HHG pick up if I don't want to? I would prefer to be here for the pickup. Will my HR specialist just amend my orders to arrive at a later date? I'll also add I received my orders on July 20th and filled out my request for HHG on the same day. I was told about my confirmed pack out date on August 28th that my pack out date would be September 18th.

Relax.
You are not getting paid to worry. You'll start work when you get there, and they will start paying you when you start work. At that point you are being paid to worry.

They will amend your orders. Once you have the date, let HR know, so the orders can be amended. As for teaching, every sub available, admin, specialists, and even ISSes are in the classrooms this year mostly due to the two school options (virtual/brick and mortar).
