I interviewed in July for a DODEA position, and was offered the position. Since then, I have been completing the paperwork as they send it to me, the day I receive it if possible. It seems like every time I complete a step there is more. How long did the whole process take for you?

From tentative offer to firm offer/orders varies wildly from person to person, year to year, etc. 4 weeks would be very quick. 4 months would be very long. around 6 weeks or so seems fairly typical most years (although I haven't really been tracking timelines this year. IsItFriday? Four months would be very long, but... none of your new coworkers would be surprised if it took four months for the hire paperwork.

They might ohhh and ahhh sympathetically, but they wouldn't be surprised. And as soon as you mention four months, someone will top that story. "I heard of a gal, and it took her six months."
