I never see much said about this topic.

How common is it to be let go after two years?

Can it happen after year one, even with a good eval/observations? Can it happen after year two with good evaluations?

Moving abroad is a big step and the 2year probationary period could be a stressful time for some new employees.
haha It's relatively rare. Of the few cases I am familiar with (over 10 years+), there were definitely issues and not good evals/feedback from the admin's point of view (and also from colleagues' POV in at least two of the cases).

Frank It really depends on your administrator. Most will be reasonable, but there's really no guarantee. The year I started there were 6 new hires at my school. By the end of the year there were only two of us left -so I have seen several people let go during their probationary period. But nobody is counting.

It's not in DoDEA's interest to point out their bad hiring decisions, or to track teacher turnover. They get rid of people as quietly as possible, and those people are quickly forgotten.
