How much cash-on-hand should one have to comfortably relocate to a DODEA position overseas? I have been researching and learned that many expenses are reimbursed, but what would be a reasonable dollar amount to have 'socked' away for up-front relocation expenses?
Slcjkl It depends on many factors, like cost of living at your location, how long you'll be staying in your arrival accommodations etc. From what I remember, you'll have to pay out of pocket for your hotel and food at the hotel (added to your bill) but will get reimbursed, which can take some time. haha Agree with what has been posted. A lot depends on the location. Also keep in mind that you can apply for a pay advance when you get there which is helpful, but does vary a lot on timing. Ours was to us within a a few weeks, but will probably vary wildly.

Woodsie We sold our car before we left for $19,000 and took that with. We used all of it but some of it was reimbursed.
