I met with with someone at the occupation clinic to review what ...See MoreI picked up everything we need for the dogs until 10 days prior to leaving and double checked with the Vet on post that said because I will have orders, they will do the USDA thing and gave me a list of what is needed (I was able to get all the documents from Banfield today).
I met with with someone at the occupation clinic to review what I need to bring to my appointment on Monday morning. The physical will take about two hours and I will have a follow-up to review the results on Thursday morning.
My son takes his driving test on Monday afternoon to get his license. He has been putting this off, but has been practicing driving when he can. He just hasn't needed it or been motivated to get a license, but agreed he needs to get it before we leave for Japan.
We all have appointments at the passport office on Tuesday. I met with the gentleman there on Thursday who guided me through what I need to bring with me. and said given my report date, I will travel on tourist passports and he will mail the official ones as soon as they arrive unless we are still here and can pick them up. He showed me the regulations that permit this based on report date and likelihood of official passports being ready. He said he has done this 9 times already for families going to Japan this summer.
The travel office is ready to help me schedule the flights and HHG, etc. as soon as I have orders.
Doctor's offices are not taking new patients for at least two weeks, so I called Minute Clinic who said they can do travel physicals for the rest of the family. I may have them do a sports physical for my daughter and updated mission physical for my son (I have paperwork for both). The only issue is they do not bill insurance for physicals, but I know from past experience, they will bill insurance for immunizations if needed.
I filled out the new employee packet someone sent me and once we have the physicals completed, I can e-mail everything and hope for orders.
I have not been told I need a background check. Some have needed it and some not who are already working for DoDEA. If I need that first, I may not make it by my report date, but I sure am trying. I don't want my pay or RAT to be messed up by arriving late.
IdaMight I ask how you were able to contact the travel office already? Is this something anyone can do with questions, or is it because you are already working on the base?
HelpOthersI live and work on Fort Knox. There is a passport office that shares the same waiting room with the travel office. Anyone can walk in and ask questions. :) If you can get on post (ID from the visitor's center) you can walk into the passport office or travel office. Yes, if you have one nearby, this seems to be the most efficient method.
My husband talked to security contact and she said he ha prelim clearance which is normal. HR contact is not available today. Would this info be the final thing you needed to quit your other job?
Please send the link or e-mail a copy to me of the physical with items we actually need marked. I am not getting response from anyone at HR right now. I think many are on leave, but my report date is August 1st and I am trying to report on time.
My family and I are happy we are going to Japan. I ...See MoreI just received an e-mail asking me to interview for an ISS School Psychology 504 position in Europe. I graciously declined, letting her know I received an offer 7/11/2017 for the same position in Yokota, Japan, and looked forward to collaborating with whomever they hire for the position.
My family and I are happy we are going to Japan. I also appreciate that I was able to start the paperwork process so I can hopefully get there close to the expected report date of August 1st.
The passport office on post was VERY helpful and may be able to speed that process. The same office has the person who schedules the flights and HHG shipments, so at least I know where to go once I have orders.
I called to schedule an appointment for my physical on post, but was too late again, so will have to try first thing in the morning. The rest of the family hasn't been to the doctor since Fort Bragg, so I'm hoping the doc there can sign a letter stating they are well enough to move to Japan.
Banfield still has the original FAVN report from May 2017, so I will pick those up tomorrow to add to the other documents in the little fire proof safe.
Just waiting on the background check information and what exactly is really needed for my physical.
HelpOthersIt seems I have not checked in for a while. I have been overwhelmed with getting things done this week. Yes, if you can find me on Facebook, you can message me your e-mail address and remind me who you are. I can send you my personal e-mail that way.
HelpOthersI have scanned everything I turned in. I have all the verification forms, even my original eQip and fingerprint cards. If you have not been doing it. Start now, to scan everything , so you will have it whenever it might be needed.
Hi! I was offered a tentative position today for social studies. My husband was offered a job for school counseling back in June. We are still waiting for his final offer. I am pretty sure I am going to be considered a local hire, but that means I will still get my own PA correct? Also, would my husband's PA drop or am I still a dependent for him?
"...in a case out of FEA Pacific, an arbitrator ruled in FEA's favor in a case involving a CONUS hire who was illegally being denied proper benefits. The case involved a married couple who were each hired to work in the Pacific. Because both spouses were residing in the U.S. at the time of their hiring, both qualified for full LQA and other benefits due to CONUS hires. However, management attempted to classify one of the spouses as a local hire and attempted to deny this person those benefits. Again, thanks to a great job by FEA's legal staff, an arbitrator ruled this practice illegal and ordered that both spouses must receive the benefits due to them. Congratulations and a very big thank you to all of FEA's legal staff for the outstanding job they do every day on behalf of our members!"

I returned the acceptance letter more than 24 hours ago and have not heard anything. I e-mailed to ask for the next steps, because my current school needs someone in place by August 1st and I'd like to start my contract year on time (August 1). However, if they are going to require the background check again, that will hold things up. We all have tourist passports, so would be fairly easy to get the official ones. I plan to schedule an appointmtne at the Occupational Health office on post for the preemployment physical and my family members will need to get something I guess from a doctor. My son will finish his classes 9/10/17, so he and my husband will remain here until then. Hopefully we will have quarters that we can bring the dogs to finish their quarentine by then. My husband can do the packout after I leave. So, just hoping to get there on time or as close as possible, so I don't lose leave days. I also don't want a DFAS letter. My position here would start pay July 25 I think, so I will need to figure out how to avoid that- unless they want me to continue my current position until I leave...
SandArtEvery time I have called someone answers. I have called 5713720576 which is the main number. For a supervisor for Pacific 5713720809. Good luck!
