I got an email about an hour later stating that I wasn't selected, but at least I got a referral!! They told me I was qualified for the position, so that makes me not worry so much about my qualificaitons when I apply for these jobs.
CeceI had my references checked before my interview. Still no news after three weeks. I was told there was a short hiring window during my interview…so not sure on the status now. Still trying to keep hopeful!
If you really want to know the status of the position, write the principal and ask. Better to know than not know and if they are still undecided for some reason your initiative and enthusiasm couldn't hurt. Many admin types are notoriously bad at the HR part of their jobs so things can drag on much longer than they intended (not to mention HR's part in the drag).
angelThank you SandArt. So it really is different for everyone. I think I'll wait till the end of the week and if I don't receive anything about e-QIP then I'll call.
SandArtI did not get that question, but my interview was for math. I did teach kinder 13 years ago and TeacherMama & Teach give excellent descriptions. If you're not K-3, you probably won't even get that question.
TeachingIt is a different process for admin. We applied through USA jobs, and we all received our scores along with how many applicants were qualified. So, we at least have a better idea of how competitive we are, but it is frustrating when there are many openings and the hiring process isn't very clear.
Make sure your EAS app is up to date and shows you as being a local hire candidate when you get there.
What I have heard from support staff is that SO many people are "on the way" to their location, but never make it or get delayed orders. They generally advise to wait until you arrive to contact the school secretary because of that.
Does anyone else feel like they are being blatantly ignored by HR? I have legitimate questions about my offer/process, and I haven't received a response to my emails or phone calls in over 2 weeks. I can't even get them to confirm that they've received my packet that I submitted. Very frustrating!
A few weeks ago I was placed on the referral list for a position in SC. Yesterday I was notified that it had been cancelled. Does anyone know what it means? Thanks for your help. Still hopeful something comes up. The clock is ticking!
hahaHard to say exactly. It might mean that the position was filled. It might be that the referral was generated in error or that they decided to change the certifications/areas required for the position and so cancelled the original referral list. Hopefully it's not the last list you make it on to.
HelpOthersSometimes, they think they will need to fill a vacancy, but then numbers change, and the potential position is cancelled. On the other hand, things could change back, depending on enrollment in the fall.
If you are a praying person, please include me in your prayers. I am not good with interviews, so I need all the assistance I can get. I am hopeful this is my year to go overseas, but if not, I do love what I do and where I am.
HelpOthersAnd the position is based out of Yokota, not Yokosuka, Japan. My dad and brother are retired Air Force, so I am excited that it is an Air Force base, but of course, I am very happy here at Fort Knox too. :)
