Thanks! I have a few in mind I think I might send to just to see what happens. (I guess it's back to the comment button not working because I couldn't reply to your comment).
I believe that DoDDS only recognizes their own professional certifications. Other than that, they will accept a state certification in a specific subject to the extent that it cuts the normally required credit hours in half.
On the other hand a principal is ...See MoreIn general I would agree that it would be a waste of time and energy given what I have seen of DoDDS admin and the hiring process. It's not taboo but also not exactly likely to endear you to principals who are anxious to avoid any hint of impropriety in their hiring practices. Most would likely ignore it.
On the other hand a principal is not going to NOT hire you because you reached out to them in the past. And, yes at least one person claims that it helped them get hired. So, if you ever have nothing better to do and are feeling lucky, you might want to fire off a few emails and see what happens.
Any advice on whether or not to reach out to local administrations in areas you wish to be considered for...or just in general...to make yourself stand out? Would this be considered ambitious or taboo?
I received my K-6 license in NC last year, and have been a substitute with DODEA for the past 2 years, in addition to completing my student teaching at a DODEA school. Any words of advice to make myself more marketable to HR for a full time teaching position?
It would be truly ironic and irksome if they did ask for/receive exemptions for ISS positions when we haven't got them for classroom teachers yet. Especially given that the general consensus is that ISS is usually a totally useless job. SPED is actually the exception since they have to overseas/audit files, advise about procedures, etc. whereas we are not sure what any of the other ISS people do with all of their time besides forward the odd email.
Yesterday I was able to comment on some posts...today I've been trying all morning to reply to Teach about the pending qualifications and nothing works...
hahaTough to say. could be a glitch. Could be someone from HR was auditing applications and saw something they wanted clarification on. Most likely a glitch.
happyteacherYay! A phone call and an email and I am back to qualified! They weren't sure why 2 of my certs moved from qualified to pending, but I'm glad it is fixed and I will keep an eye on my application in the future.
