Unfortunately the length of the thread does not matter. Sometimes you cannot respond to a thread with only one post. I also do not know what you mean by a bottom comment field on a thread. We only see one. A top one.
P.S. Thanks to haha and teach...See MoreI've looked online, but haven't found specifics about the health insurance that dodea employees get through the FEHB program. What are people's thoughts about your health insurance, especially if you have kids? Are you happy with it? Are the premiums high? Coverage good? Any complaints? Thanks for your input.
P.S. Thanks to haha and teach to all of the answers you give on this site!
happyteacherAlso, what about sick leave/personal leave? Is it accrued the same way all government employees accrue it? I'm assuming no annual leave since we have summer off.
As for leave I don't know about other gov't jobs. With DoDDS you start out the year with 10 days of sick leave and 3 days of annual personal leave. If you don't use the APL days they roll over into sick leave for the following year. When you leave service (after a certain amount of years) you get a percentage of your unused sick leave in cash.
Bob R/CAThe bottom one appears when there are more than three posts - I had it backwards, it's the BOTTOM ONE, that has an error. I'll try to get a look at that soon.
I can make a main post, but when I try to comment on someone else's post, my comments just disappear. I am logged in and registered. I've made comments before, but for the past two weeks it hasn't allowed me to. I know this is not limited to me, but is it due to my computer settings or something I'm missing? Thanks in advance!!
I'm wondering if anyone might have some infornation or experience that might help me...
I have quite a few years of teaching and administrative experience in public education. (I'll omit that exact number....)
A year or two back I I was offered a DODD position, but I was told that I could only be credited with a certain amount of years, maybe five?? for salary purposes ( I have a certification area that is hard to find)
My question is this: if I were to get an offer/position with the DoDD in an administrative role, if I wanted to move to a teaching position later on down the road , might I be able to get full credit for my years of experience, since I would now be inside the system ?
It sure would be great to come full circle and finish up my career asa DODD teacher,
For right now I just cant for that kind of a pay cut ( allowing only 5 years on the pay scale)
DDESS (the stateside portion of DoDEA) only credits you with 5 years and no gift step so you would start at Step 5, but offers slightly higher salaries. They also do not have LQA etc.
I believe admin experience would count and carry over if you went back into the classroom but am not 100% certain of that.
hahaIt might depend to some extent on your location. Germany for instance offers free college education in English in many schools/cities (although they are apparently going to star charging soon).
True. And there are more than a few (and many of them are older than 70's).
Another benefit is that DoDDS schools qualify for Public Service Loan Forgiveness where your qualified student loans are paid off after 10 years of service.
