My coursework is before 2010 and a lot has changed since then. I may have to send in descriptions of it since it's not in the title. What about professional development? Does that count toward anything? I just hate that I may have to sign up for classes that will cost me money that I don't NEED (and could probably teach) in order to qualify in certain areas. I'm pursuing a certification in ABA to hopefully obtain my BCBA and SHOULD theoretically qualify as a 9000 autism cert, but who knows what will count and what won't...very frustrating...
Freeze is still in effect at the moment. No idea about CONUS numbers for hiring but no major issues with schools closing so far so there should not be a large group of excess DODDS teachers to be placed which is usually good news. I'm guessing there will be the usual 200 or so positions needing to be filled (give or take).
Any speculation on available positions after the transfer round, or if this will be a good year for CONUS hiring? Has the freeze been sorted out yet? I saw the FEA was getting involved, didn't know if there was an update.
Pretty much. They mostly want just the facts which is why number of certifications and years of experience count for so much with them. They basically are only interested in things that can be quantified and be part of a searchable database for when admin are searching for candidates for a specific position.
Other than that, the only things that seem to increase your odds are personal connections with admin in DoDDS schools, having done your student teaching in a DoDDS schools or having a military spouse with orders for a location where there is a DoDDs school.
IcanreadLocal community college, online colleges? The University of Phoenix and Walden University have some online courses, I think. I took an online course through Pima Community College in Arizona.
Do you know if it will be checked off on your EAS application once you combine all of your transcripts into one document? Everything in my application is checked off as completed except the File Attachments section. Just a little confused.
hahaYes, sometimes you even need to delete everything and re-upload it to see if that helps. If you do that and still don't see the check, go ahead and call HQ and try and get someone to look at your file.
